If you’re travelling in 2022, you’ll only need your biometric passport. If you’re planning a trip for 2023, you can expect some changes. The new European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will go live in 2023, and it’ll be mandatory for travellers heading to France from the UK. It’s essential to note that the new ETIAS application doesn’t replace the standard visa-issuing system. If you plan to work or study in France, you’ll still need to apply for the appropriate visa.

Yes. Once it becomes mandatory in 2023, an ETIAS application will be required for UK citizens who wish to travel to France or any other country in the Schengen area.

Currently, all visitors aged 12 and up are required to show proof of a full series of vaccinations or a negative PCR or antigen test, taken 72 or 48 hours before departure, respectively. Children under the age of 12 are not subject to any COVID-related travel restrictions.

ETIAS will go live in 2023. There’ll be a grace period to help travellers and border officials adapt to the new process. Still, the ETIAS application should facilitate travel for British citizens, and it’s best to go ahead and fill it out, even if you’re travelling during the grace period.
