No. As of today, as a UK citizen, you can travel to France with just a biometric passport.

However, from 2024, you will need to apply for an ETIAS authorisation to travel freely.

Yes. Since January 2020 the UK is no longer member of the European Union. Because of this, you, as a UK citizen, will need to apply for an authorisation before traveling to Schengen Area.

We recommend you to get your authorisation at least 96 hours prior your departure date.

Application process will be very easy and straightforward. First, you will need to fill out the questionnaire that includes general questions about your personal information. This will take you only 15 minutes.

Then you will have to submit the application form alongside your biometric passport online and wait for the feedback. It is estimated that 95% of the applications will be approved automatically within hours after submission.

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System will be launched in 2024. There will be a period of transition of six months before fully switching to it.
